  1. Philadelphia Freeway 2 Album

Sep 04, 2014  Freeway - Philadelphia Freeway (February 25, 2003) Something to know before entering a Freeway album that is that you don't listen to Freeway for a super-lyrical style or anything, you listen to Freeway for his choice of beats, delivery, and flow with occasional big-hit punchlines for good measure. Almost five years after releasing a near-classic rap debut, Freeway finally gets his second shot, and there's some unsurprisingly frank talk about his surroundings not being identical. Since Philadelphia Freeway's early 2003 release, there was the Damon Dash/Jay-Z Roc-A-Fella rift, so Free addresses that,.

Background[edit]

In a recent interview, Freeway stated why he took such a lengthy hiatus.[2] He had this to say:

I just been grinding you know the whole Roc break up really took a toll on me and kind of even held my career up a little bit, but I been working and I'm ready to get back out. It was a couple of things. The whole family structure wasn't in place like it was. There was a time when I could just go to Bassline [studios] and knock it out but it wasn't like that this time.

Production[edit]

Free at Last features production from Bink!, J. R. Rotem, Needlz, and Cool & Dre, amongst others. Guest appearances include Marsha Ambrosius, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Scarface, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, and Rick Ross.
